Personal:

I have always run to keep in shape but before last year hadn't ever run more than 6 miles in my life.  It all started when RAD got me signed up to do Ragnar.  I didn't want to make a fool of myself, so I started doing more distance.  I found I really like having something to work for in my running.  Now that my 4 kids are getting older, I finally feel like I have the time to commit to training for a marathon.

I remember RAD telling me about a running blog, so I tried to find it and typed in running blog and a few others and I couldn't find it.  I asked her again, and she said it was the "fast" running blog.  So I don't know if I really belong with the "FAST" running blog, but I made it into the St George Marathon, and I am looking for a few running friends to train with.  This will be my first marathon, and I am actually curious to see if my body can withstand the pressure put upon it with the training.  Those of you who run several marathons a year, I am in awe of you and also think you are absolutely nuts!  I am definitely trying to get under 4 hours, and am considering trying to make it under the 3:45 that qualifies me for Boston.  I know I have run with a few of you (Tom Slick we did the SL half together, and I know I have run with Smooth with RAD last year).  I was wondering if PaulRiverton is my dental friend that saw me on the trail?  I am wondering what kind of groups do longer weekend runs? I figure the only way I will make it through 3 hour runs is if I have someone to talk to, because I get rather bored after mile 7 by myself and my music.  So give me some feed back on a good run this weekend-Thanks

You're in the right place. RAD is pretty rad. Smooth is pretty smooth. And Tom Slick is pretty slick. Actually, I've never interacted with Tom, but he seems nice. I think Riverton Paul is a lawyer. Hope you enjoy the blog!

WELCOME to the blog! I don't really belong to the *fast*runningblog either! Runners are very good at lying especially during long runs! You're in the right place if you wanna run long and tell big lies! :)

Refresh my feeble memory, where and when did we run together last year? That's another pre-requisite for group run, bad memories which is a good quality to have with running, trust me! :)

Smooth-we ran the porter rockwell trail last year in the spring, and there was another older guy with us, but I can't remember his name. I remember your name because you said you got it from your smooth legs:). I am RAD's sister in law.

Burt-thanks for the welcome. Maybe we can run together some time.

Welcome to the blog! It is always better to run with friends!

Welcome! The "fast" part is relatively speaking! There are some runners on here that are incredibly fast.....but running is an individual sport. You will become fast compared to what you used to be...........at least that is what I tell myself! :)

OK, I remember that run now. It was the Sat before Ogden...so almost a year ago to the date. That was a fun run on Porter Rockwell.

All the kidding aside...I am so glad you're blogging your runs/training here. It really helps to keep track of all the miles and workouts. This is a great community of runners, all size, shape and speed. As Missee said, FAST is all relative.

NICE to have you on board! Have a great week!

Welcome to the blog!

Your goal for the St George marathon is about the same as mine. Who knows, maybe we'll meet up (among all the other 1000's of runners there! :))

I'm not in a group, but usually do my long run on the weekend. I like going down Holladay Blvd in SL (and I see MANY runners out there) and staying on the east side where there are plenty of hills to add to the miles. That's sure to keep you from getting bored!

Good luck!
